Whether or not I agree with what you say, if I find it offensive, or is deliberately hateful to incite a response, you should have the ability to say those things.

Freedom of speech is not protected on a private website, but any website that does restrict liberty will end up losing its users. Voat would be no exception, and I agree it's why we left reddit in the first place.

Awesome, that's the attitude we should all take. I for am not racist, nor do I take issue with African Americans, but I'll be damned if the hate subs should be silenced simply because it offends me, that goes against everything I've learned.

Exactly. People have a right to be assholes.

I'll note its a bit ironic that you want to silence her speech though. You have every right to complain but deliberately stretching the rules of this sub and belittling someone for their views strikes me a bit melodramatic.

Agreed. They have the right to say something stupid, but others have the right to tell them what they said was stupid.

But, you should not be free from being ostracized for it, either.

[–] swingsandroundabouts 1 points 2 points (+3|-1) ago

I'd agree with that too.

You have the right to say whatever you want to say, I have the right to be offended and tell you that you're an asshole.

It really is a simple concept. Outside of the exceptions of calling on people to commit violence, or the classic "yelling 'fire' in a crowded theatre" as a joke.

I can tell someone they're fat, they're stupid, they're wrong, they're a bitch or a dick - and conversely I need to expect that I will be told to go fuck myself.

Feelings are subjective, if we need to create safe-spaces to accommodate everyone's feelings we will find that the world will become much smaller and confined and all of this recent censorship to protect people's feelings is really concerning.

We're not talking about someone's free speech here, we're talking about someone with the power to censor others while also having an attitude contrary to the central theme of Voat itself.

"She" can say whatever he or she or it likes. "She" probably should not be moderating others ability to do the same.

Think you misunderstood my position. I'm saying that everyone should be able to speak freely and that censorship is wrong.
