Does anyone have a prepared reading list for boys aged 7 to 11 that is relatively safe for honest white folk? Mrs Shields looks after the homeschooling for our brood, but recently has become despondent about the local library selection, and rightly so. We followed Sonlight for a while, adding our own selections here and there, but I'd like to know if there's a good list I've missed.
My boy is not ready for The International Jew, Mein Kampf, 200 Years or the Turner Diaries yet, so you can skip those recommendations for now.

If your boys like dogs, Red Fern and Old Yeller will be tough, but lessons in love and loss for a boy and his dog. Jack London books are great ones for boys and dogs.
Just thought of Kipling's Kim and Stevenson's Treasure Island as great colonial spy and pirate books.
