Snowden, Manning, and the general burgeoning resistance to the establishment. We are on the verge of the next great wave of political activism. SJWs, BlackLivesMatter, Mens Rights, etc. Platforms of free expression and free speech on the Internet. This is just the start but will end in a similar system shock that the 60s had. We're only just getting started. I'm not saying any individual part is particular good but the combined effect is great.

Sometimes I think the biggest mistake the American establishment, military industrial complex, could make would be to restrict online discourse. Of course that is the direction they're heading with propaganda, sock puppets, CISPA, SOPA, TPP, etc.

In the end I think this is going to backfire in a spectacular way. It will work only instead of getting control of things people will become disenfranchised with the internet and will pour out into the streets again. This is already starting as well. We're here on Voat, but eventually they're going to censor it all. There won't be a Voat sometime and when that happens most of us are going to go outside and start yelling about all the stuff we used to hide online and its going to be fucking crazy.

So here's to our coming greatest accomplishment. I can't say what the results will be but it will certainly be interesting times.

I think you're being to optimistic. When voat will censor things people will just flock towards a new site. Today people aren't going on the street and if they go it's not really for something they actually believe just to have done it and with the first police resistance they'll run back home.

Everybody is waiting for the big moment/revolution where everyone is going to protest the establishment. But it will never fire off because everyone is to busy giving his analysis about a problem (slacktivism) on the internet and feel he did good while he didn't do shit. /rant
