"You remember that time you visited a she-male porn site out of curiosity?"

Well you know, it does in fact happen. I remember the day I saw /r/sexwithdogs. I honestly had to see if that was in fact what that sub was. I have no interest in that shit, but the dark fascination does have a draw. It was right there and I HAD to see if this was in fact the real deal. "Are people really fucking dogs? And videotaping it and putting it online?" Yes, Yes they are. And now that is in my browsing history (and permanently scarred into my brain). And I honestly have no interest in beastiality. So, yeah. Someone could actually happen across that and look out of curiosity.

Who gets to decide what is right and wrong? If you are a liberally inclined individual and a socially conservative wave sweeps the government, are you comfortable with them looking through your life and attacking you for doing what you think is right? If you are conservatively inclined and a socially liberal wave sweeps the government, are you okay with them looking through your life and labeling your views as hate speech?

Do you close the door when you go to the bathroom?

I prefer "Everyone knows you have genitalia, that doesn't mean you walk around naked."

Does this mean dick-pics are less cool?

As basic as it gets - no corporation or government selected to rule on behalf of the people has any right whatsoever to my private life unless there is evidence or intelligence pointing towards illegal activities.

This article succinctly explains the importance of privacy.

The best argument is "tell me all of your secrets right now". If they have nothing to hide then they should have no problem with that. And if they say they have no secrets you can call them big fat cock-sucking liars with a hundred percent confidence and the point is proven.

My constitutional right to.

My retort to that is. You have nothing you want hide from your government, but the methods our government uses to violate our privacy cause security holes for other governments and organizations to see. Even if they don't use the same exploits all that data is getting stored in a database. Databases can be broken into, it happens a lot. So even if we find a way that only 'the good guys' get to see our data, it is still vulnerable for 'the bad guys'. Do you really want terrorists knowing your schedule and your views about them?
What if you wanted to travel? Do you really think every government agrees with what you have to say.
I also discuss how the lack of transparency can lead to a huge lack of accountability. I normally use this argument against my girlfriend's very religious family. Let's say the person assigned to go through the data of you and your associates is homosexual, and someone in your family says something anti homosexual. What is going to stop that person from saying they found plans to bomb a gay bar on your hard drive?
