Poverty and hunger are rampant in Cuba. They have been propped up by the ussr. Their oppressive private business laws have allowed their fields to law fallow.
Common saying in Cuba "they pretend to feed us. We pretend to work."
I am hopeful for the future of Cuba. They have recently lifted a lot of the restrictions on business. There is an interesting doc about it floating around on YouTube. People are owning farms and little restaraunts. There is some thriving trade.
There was this one guy who was like a neurosurgeon, but apparently that gets crappy pay in Cuba. So he had a little side gig selling bathroom fixtures. Weird thing that happen when everybody makes the same wage.

Cuba is a country with little to no resources, anyway. The fact that they do so well speaks wonders of the distribution of resources
