No one is able to tell you what makes you happy. You're going to have to keep searching. Everyone has to find it on their own. When they say "A hedonist wouldn't mind" they're just telling you that there are people out there that do things that make them happy and that are bad for them, and they're just fine with it. If they're fine with doing things that make them happy but that are bad for them, then you can too if that's what you want. As long as you aren't purposely harming others.
Alcoholics drink to make themselves happy even though it's bad for them. As long as they aren't driving or making other decisions they know are harmful to others then they're just fine in my book. If they make decisions that are harmful to me or others, and become less pleasant to hang around, I'll voice my displeasure toward them and tell them I don't like to hang around them when they drink. Then I'll leave and stop talking to them as long as that behavior continues. They've made a decision to be happy with their alcohol, and I'm making a decision stop associating with them. If my decision makes them unhappy enough, they'll put down the bottle and enjoy my company for happiness instead. If they don't, oh well. That's their decision.
Now I'll go on to the first part. If money is what you need, then seek out money. Find a profession you like the most and that makes good money. Go do it. Do what you need to get into that profession to get that money. I can't tell you which profession makes the most money that you'll tolerate or enjoy. You need to do the research to find that profession.
