That whole situation was bullshit and infuriating but I'm not sure what we can do about it tbh.

If those who are affected by Aaron's death were to begin their careers in civil/local government while continuing to develop tech that decentralizes rather than centralizes... I think he'd be proud.

It made me furious as well and really outraged that we live in a country where this happened. I feel disillusioned about our present and fear the future when everyone just carries on talking about the inane bullshit, outright propaganda, and pop news when people are fucked over and wronged so deeply.

I just watched this last night and it really bothered me. It just reaffirmed my opinion that our government is completely fucked. They straight up told Aaron and his parents that they were making an example out of him. The companies dropped the charges when they saw how out of hand it was getting and the government still wouldn't back off. He was just trying to share real human knowledge with the world for free (as it undeniably should be) and he was destroyed for it. He was doing a really good thing. The dicks who slapped a copyright on something that profound and meaningful to our species are the ones who should've been crucified.

Control and money, that's all that matters in the world we live in.

Many consider DemandProgress and the work Larry Lessig is doing to be Aaron's legacy. I support both in hope that more changes are to come.

the good that has come from his tragedy is that we know about it, and we know how little our opinions mean to the ones "in charge", so we know not to try and change the system. but move away and ignore it. create our own future.
