I just discovered that I'm an empath. It is eye-opening, and gives me a great deal of insight into my strengths and glaring weaknesses....why I struggle to fit in and be normal, am shy though I don't want to be, and spend so much time separated from people, even though I love people and long to help the world.
I have a question for empaths:
How have you advanced your gift (sensitivity to other people) from a liability to an asset?
for non-empaths - what has been your impression of empaths? are we overly-sensitive assholes or confused soytards...? or gifted counselors?

Empath answer: I do thought experiments about peoples experiences and ask questions until I get confirmation that I describe what they are feeling. (First seek to understand, then to be understood)
I asked a non empath about their impression of empaths. The answer: I have a good feeling about them

so you know (have a strong hunch) how people are feeling, but verbally process it through questions?

I refine it through questions. People reveal more and relax when they feel familiar.
