If the government decided bibles were no longer allowed (as China has done), would you expect churches to remain silent because it is a "political issue"? Neutrality is a myth and any political issue will be subject to a person's worldview/religious views.

i guess thats different because its a core tenant of the freedom of religion layed out in the constitution. There is no constitutional law that grants charities tax exempt status
