If there were an occasion when I was interrupted, on call, in a rush, or distracted - a sign can make the difference to remind me. The "more often" in my statement explains that I already have the habitual behavior - the "remind me" explains that if there is a distraction, I'd be less likely to forget. That's where the description "reminder" comes from. I'm lousy at multi-tasking, and find reminders to be an important part of a system.
