I'm from New York. A few hours from the city. Cops are dicks everywhere.
That being said, I really try not to judge my cousin is a cop. And I really hope he's a good cop. He doesn't ever strike me as the asshole type, or the arrogant prick type. But then again he's family so I might be biased. But I can very easily see them being an all in club.
Its a hard thing to think about, I do think the police make everything safer. This is coming from living in a different city, that is currently under a fucking epidemic of fucking 12-18 year old black teenage gunmen. (Thanks Detroit for sending your shit to every city you can, we don't know how you did it, but you trained an entire generation that shooting people is good) Do I think the police have my best interest at heart? No. Do I think I'm just another asshole looking to ruin their night to them? Yes. Do I think I need to be careful around police, yes. They have a gun and they tend to move in a way that screams aggressive. (I worked with developmentally disabled and some disturbed individuals, and fuck all if I didn't feel safer near them then some of the police I've been around)
I think there needs to be some sort of police reform, absolutely. What that is, or what form that takes, I really can't say, because I don't have any good idea's on how to stem or combat such a massive and complex problem. Because its so huge. Its not just one issue its, hundreds of compounding issues.
