If they ditched Windows, they sure as hell won't be running Mac.

There are actually some Unix fans that have run Mac OS X since they introduced a BSD-based kernel. This number has dwindled since Apple got more draconian, but they do exist.

That's an absurd claim. There are plenty of people who ditch Windows for Mac.

All the people with Macs that I know are people who are too simple minded to understand concepts like right-click menus and only use them for iTunes and internet. I had to use one for a video production class once. Worst semester of my life.

Plus, Mac OS only usually runs on apple hardware, which is all just crappy, overpriced jewelry.

I tried about a decade ago... $3k for a laptop (where a C based with the same specs would have been half as much), and all functionality ground to a halt. I tried, I'd spend an hour just Trying to do something to learn the Mac, then give up and go turn on my PC desktop, get the job done in 5 minutes and be done.

The final straw for me? The power cord broke at the laptop connection end and Apple tried to refuse a warranty. This was about 6~7 months in, for a laptop that lived in the living room and the power stayed on the table (unplug for use, plug in when sitting). They eventually warrantied the cable and I listed it for sale the day the replacement arrived. Lost $1000 and Countless hours of my life.

I should point out that at that point I'd been working IT for a decade, had experience with *nix (was an OS X based Mac) and would generally consider myself a power user. I wanted it to work out, but it was such a "form over function" failure that I'll never be rid of the bad taste. I tried an Ipod around that time too, I think I went through 3 warrantied replacements before giving up on that front too.

Apple products make me cringe. My wife too, apparently, as when she switched to a smartphone several years ago she told me flat out not the Iphone.
