It would be really awesome to harness sunlight by concentrating it into a beam that could be used like a laser in a full blown precision laser cutting machine. My CO2 laser engraver can cut wood and plastic, but I would love to have enough power to cut metal too. I don't think it would be possible to gather enough energy through large fiber optic bundles to focus down to a small point in the machine, but if it was possible and not too expensive, that would be a bad ass machine!

That is one big engraver.

That's right. It's easier to melt or cut materials with the sun than it is to engrave, because the intensity of the beam is hard to control.
