America's got its plusses and minuses.
Good place to be rich, horrible place to be poor.
Pretty high crime rate (higher murder rate than, say, Liberia, Somalia, or Rwanda). Pretty high Gini coëfficient. 21% of children living in poverty.
Obvious, indisputable human rights violations, especially of the right to privacy.
It's hard to generalise about the overall 'goodness' of an overall 'country'. Life in Orange County doesn't resemble life in Baltimore City. Statistical indexes that try, like the Where-to-be-born Index or the HDI, typically have the U.S. around 15th in the world, which is why people from the ~180 countries below that might want to come.
