Back in the heyday of paper straws, though, drinks were much smaller (a bottle of Coke was about 6 or 8 ounces), so you could finish your beverage before the paper straw fell apart. Now in the era of the "Big gulp", how can you drink all that before the straw disintegrates?
I've seen some hipster places with stainless steel 'straws'. I am concerned by how or even if they clean the insides of those things... or perhaps they're disposable, thus creating waste of much more energy-intensive magnitude. These idiotic laws are... well, idiotic!

There is a very tasty restaurant that has gone to paper straws here in oklahoma of all places. I find it sad and stupid but their food is so good and everything is otherwise top notch. I am afraid to look at their social media and find out they are politically active though.

Uh, they're back, bubba. If you visit the coasts or any of the great lakes regions they either have those or no straws.

My wife says the girls at her work have those stainless straws. Just seemed kinda unsanitary when she told me about them.

Maybe some retarded local ordinance forced them, or at least strongly motivated them to make this change.
...or they just thought the customers would think that's cool.
