Who knows is correct! My son had an anaphylactic rxn to clams when we were at a Panera Bread. Of course we did not know at the time that his hives, mucus flowing, sneezing rxn was due to the clams. Took him to the emergency room where they gave him epinephren (don't know how to spell sorry), and observed for 4 hrs. This all took place a state away from our home. When we were back home I took him to the allergist. After blood tests, skin tests etc... the doctor determined he was allergic to clams and should stay away from all bivalves. Which to his sorrow he did. He also has bad allergies to pollen, dust mites and mold. The anaphylactic rxn happened 4 yrs ago. Last yr his environmental allergies got so bad that he asked to have allergy shots to help in the spring and fall. The Doctor said he needed to redo the skin prick test to make sure he made the allergy shots targeting exactly what was bothering him, and he asked "Do you want to test the food allergies again?" My son was like YES! They did & the skin test was clean for the food allergies (not good for the environmental at all). So then we did a blood test, which had been bad for the food 4 years earlier, and the blood test came up clean. We then did a food challenge in the doctors office, so that they could help him if he did have a rxn. He passed that too & is now eating all the seafood he wants w/o any restrictions! I asked the doctor "How could this happen, I thought that once you had a food allergy, that was it, you had it for life?" the doctor responded with "Allergies are weird, there is no explaining them"!
So I totally agree, Could be. Who knows? - But if something tastes like crap or makes you feel like crap when you eat it, then you should avoid it. Your body is telling you something!
