Gestures. If you’re familiar with Tweetbot on iOS, they have some of the most fluid and polished gestures I’ve seen in any app. I don’t even use Twitter anymore but I keep it installed for reference when I work on mobile UIs.
In a list view, swipe from right to left on an item to go to detail view. In Voat’s case it would go from frontpage or subverse to the specific post. Swipe from left to right to return to list view (without losing your place!).
Because of the above gesture, single tapping an item shouldn’t open it in a new view, but instead expand them inline, whether it’s an image, video, or text post. It could also reveal more metadata (time posted, upvotes and downvotes instead of total score) or reveal a toolbar of actions like subscribe, block, and save.
Pull down to refresh. Pretty standard. Should work with both list views (frontpage or subverses) and individual posts. Or just about any view that can change over time.
