Make it on the stove-top instead!
I buy kernels and popcorn oil, put them in a pot with a lid. Wearing oven mitts, apply high heat while swooshing the kernels and oil around in the pan. When it stops popping, it's done! Remove immediately and place in a bowl. I prefer to just add seasoned salt, but you do whatever works for you from there!
But be warned. Microwave popcorn will never taste the same.

I always make on the stove-top as well. The way my parents taught me is

How I do it too but with one small addition. When you add the bulk of the kernels after your test ones have popped take the pan off the heat and wait 30 seconds. This lets all the new kernels heat up to just under popping temperature so when you put it back on the heat they all go pretty close to each other.

Not only that, the few moments just after you take it out of the pot are where things get awesome. Personally, I do salt, pepper, cumin. But you can also get fancy and melt some cheese and chilli flakes, or chocolate, or butter and powdered sugar!

I'm sorry, English is not my first language...but you add WHAT now?
I prefer butter over jizz myself. But whatever makes you pop I guess.

Naw dawg that's way too much work. I'd rather have below-average popcorn than cook that shit on the stove. Don't even ask me how I like my shrimp.

I prefer mine without the bitter aftertaste : )
OT Stove top every time. Butter toffee sauce or savoury both work for me.

I found I had to use power level 9 or 8 on my microwave, so that might help. The other comments about waiting until 2 seconds between pops is correct as well, don't leave it in too long.
