I went to a festival with my big sister when I was 13. I wore a summer dress that fell to about mid thigh and was walking through the forest at the back of the field with my aforementioned sister, when we saw this ~30 year old dude sat on a rock smoking some weed. He didn't ask my sister to join him, oh no, he asked little 13 year old me to join him. I was understandably freaked and just ignored him.
When I was 8, a stranger saw me crying in the street while my drunken, high mother was stumbling behind me (I had walked across town to bring her home because she had been out for hours) and hugged me, told me everything was going to be okay in the end, and offered to call Social Services. I declined, saying my dad was at home (he wasn't, he didn't live with us). After I got home, my other sister was there with my friend and they made sure I was okay, put my mum to bed with a glass of water, and made fish pie. I still can't eat fish pie to this day but I will always remember that woman I'd never met before trying to put things right for a random kid.
On a lighter note, today I saw a dude who obviously struggled to feed himself/afford a home (although I don't think he was homeless) dressed to the nines in an old, patched up suit, with crooked teeth and shoes with mismatched laces, find a £5 note on the ground. He walked around offering it to everyone in the vicinity before laughing and clutching it in his hands, walking towards the nearest pub. He looked at me and said "I'm going to have my first glass of whisky in 3 months!" and I just smiled and said "Looks like it's your lucky day mate! Enjoy it." He was so sweet and kind, and deserved that fiver more than anyone else. I'm glad he found it.
