Now if it's another piece of software running on the machine (software level hacks) then you're screwed anyway. It's not an antivirus solution, it's a 'hey they took my laptop and made an image of it' protection.
Secondarily you can even setup more than one encrypted OS, a 'clean' version and a 'dirty' version that use different passwords for plausible deniability.
Not really, I mean if you're in a situation where you'll be facing that type of inspection(or live somewhere where it's common) I would argue that providing the password and saying here you go feel free is better than saying, no I'm not giving you the password.
