Well, I wouldn't say that. Their antivirus provides us with a centralized administration console which the security guys can put all kinds of rules. I'm pretty sure there are better solutions out there, or ones that do the same thing/have more functions that cost less than it. In the corporate world, you essentially need to put the blame on someone if things go awry and as far as I know, their support was top notch and the new vulnerabilities that appear on our networks are dealt swiftly due to the policies updates.
Also, for quite a few years now, Symantec has removed their support of virtually any testing of their efficiency. Check out Av-Comparatives for more information. Yes I can agree that a central management of a solution is totally required and the tools it provides are no-doubt helpful. However the balance between performance and detection, IMHO, are skewed way towards bloated and inefficient scanning in most 'enterprise' products. Previous gig had McAfee and wow was that a horror show. So I can't speak directly to Symantec, however 'regularly' having to use disk recovery tools on hard drives sounds really shitty. In previous jobs I've been using other solutions for a long time without having to resort to recovery on a regular basis.
