I am asking specifically about women. It's not so strange to me that men whose physical attraction to women comes from looking strong and tough might get tattoos, but for a women a tattoo is a like a scar (something else that might enhance or at least not harm a man's appearance but will hurt a women's.)
I've Googled this question, and found lots of different answers, but none if them ring true. Most of the discussion online is designed to convince people who are asking the question that tattoos on women are great or sexy or empowering rather than a form a self-mutilation and a symptom of some underlying problem. But what is the underlying problem?
I don't believe that it is a coincidence that the rise of women with tattoos happened at the same time that women have become increasingly amoral and miserable, but what's the actual connection?
