That's great!

Find a weight-lifting routine online that fits with your goals. Look at youtube videos for how to do the lifts with good form. I recommend the Art of Manliness vids with Mark Rippletoe for the primary lifts. He explains how to do each lift very well for beginners.

Once you establish a habit of going to the gym, the next thing you can focus on is your diet. You won't reach your goals if you're not eating right.

This answer a million times, please. I've been hitting the gym 5 out of 7 days after work for almost four months now and I feel better than I ever have. You can literally double your strength in a short while, which is an amazing self esteem boost. No, it's not easy at first. In the gym, as in much of life, if it's too easy then it isn't worth your time. (once I get the ability to upvoat again, I will come back to this. Sorry, I normally voat on everything I comment on)

Nice! I started going 6 days a week as of 2 years ago and tracked every single rep and set in JEFIT on my phone. Now I can look back and many of my core exercises have seen a 350%+ increase which is awesome to see. It gets great after 6 months to a year when everyone else starts noticing the big changes and you get a lot of compliments, drives you even further! Unfortunately I'm also out of upvotes but I'll come back tomorrow and upvote everyone above :)

to go with this: don't lift with ego

it's way better to have proper form than pumping out heavy weights with bad form

Very true! Lifting beyond your ability will only get you hurt. Strict form, high repetition will yield better results than sloppily lifting heavy weight.

There is so much truth in this statement!

Don't let years of love fall apart due to a moment of hate.

I love this. I may have even written it down on a post-it to add to my wall of text....

This reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe quote, "Years of love have been forgot, in the hatred of a minute".

Hey mate, just letting you know you posted this three times in a row. You might want to delete a couple of them.

You dont need to know everything, you just need to know where it's written down.

Something my Father always says. and its true in most cases.

If you are really really hungry, take ten deep breaths and it should help alleviate the hunger pains.

On top of this, a lot of people confuse hunger and thirst. Try having a glass of water and waiting a few minutes.

And...it's pangs, not pains. Common mistake.

Depends on how hungry you are

Don't buy into diets. Diets will fail you. What you need are healthy lifestyle habits that promote health, fitness, and well being.

Diets are one of the reasons fat people remain fat.

Everything in moderation is my diet. Except toasted tomatoes sandwiches....those are heavenly and should be eaten daily

Secondary to that I would say to anyone looking to "diet", should take baby steps. Cut out unnecessary snacks first... then look at altering one or two dinners/lunches a week and so on. You can do this slowly and ease yourself into it which will make goals not only easier to achieve but more long term.

I've never been overweight but I did used to eat unhealthy food and just burn it off by playing sports. I altered my food intake to include more nutritious and natural foods over the course of a year or so

I am skinny as fuck, always have been and I have been blessed with the ability to eat whatever I want......because I played lots of high endurance sports, ran a lot of long distances, and was extremely active. Now that I am older I am having to teach myself healthy habits and I am too am learning to take it slow, make small changes, and over time I have noticed a shift im my eating habits. While I am not there yet, I am at least focused on eating healthier, now that I am not active.

Burn the ships.

One of my coaches said this to me during a training camp. He said that when Cortez invaded, he was hearing doubts from his men that they would be successful. So he set fire to all of their ships, eliminating their way home. This way the men had to push forward, had to be victorious. there was no other option.

So when you're facing a big challenge, eliminate plan B. Only give yourself the option of success.

(Sorry if this seems convoluted, as I read it back to myself I realize that he made it sound way more inspiring)

Inspiring except that Cortez and his ilk were perpetuating a genocide and junk.

I had a feeling it was at the very least embellished. The idea behind it is what helps me though.

After going through a professional divorce, loosing over 10k $ to it and dealing with a depression at the same time, all that shortly after losing my father & having a brother I truly love sink into addiction and screw his life up while making my ailing mother go mad with worry, which I had to support until recently, all I can say is damn right !

Sharpen your horns and charge on !

Hell is only so big, at one point you eventually get to the end, if you keep going.

Edit:typo

Wear sunscreen. If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it.
