I once had a friend who suffered from a lot of psychological issues. The difference was that I feel she never really wanted the help, but rather just the attention. I don't doubt what she told me. She had many issues at home which I know attributed to her condition, but she never made an effort to improve her situation even when there were others there ready to help. A family offered her their home and were willing to adopt her, but she just told me that it made her uncomfortable and then broke her connections with them. Then she'd go off with someone else, talk to them about her issues, and then break connections when they got too eager to help. The cycle would just repeat itself. I do hope she's fine and is working on accepting help.
I'm kind of just rambling on at this point. I'm glad you found a comfortable alternative Polkadotgirl. It shows you really want to improve rather than just give up and let the issues consume you. I'd say go out and find a friend who will listen to all you have to say. If you don't want that just yet, I'd say get a pet if you don't have one already. They can't really converse with you, but the companionship is nice.
