When I started to realize Reddit was over was when I noticed really hipster college kids browsing it.

As depressing as that is, it's true. The quality has gone down significantly. It has really opened my eyes to how the young millennials feel (I am an older millennial). They are all feelings, attention seeking, cause seeking, anti critical thinking. I saw it coming a long time ago. I watched it take over the tight knit youtube atheist community and get ruined with Atheism Plus. I watched them through Gamergate. I watched them take over reddit and eventually see them spill over onto facebook conversations. It's scary because this is the future.

So what you are saying is .. when hipsters started to use it, it was "over". Isn't that hipster'ish?

No. Because hipsters never actually find things first. They just act like they do because it gives them their self-assured, false, sense of superiority.
