Back story: my apparent complex was bought out and is own by a new company. They did a lot of renovations; some nice some half assed. I don't use any of them. The only thing that I could say I use is the new paint on my building.
I have never missed a payment and I always pay extra each month.
Also, how professional is it for a property manager to tell me it's "only $21" when referring to my rent increase? I can afford it but I don't feel I've done anything to deserve a rent increase.
I'm supposed to go to the office after work tomorrow and renegotiate my lease offer. She said she'd meet halfway between my current rent and proposed rent. I said it's better than nothing and sure.
Any and all advice would be helpful. Thank you!
Edit: I live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.

It's an auto payment for a set amount. The water bill is included in the rent and their online system doesn't post both amounts at once. So it's a guessing game how much it'll be. So I round up and take the credit balance of about $21 (ironically).
