Just coast and they will suddenly feel the need to change lanes.

[–] voats4goats 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

This^^^. Im sorry, youre in a rush and want to crawl up my ass? <Foot moves off the gas>

[–] Cat-hax 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago  (edited ago)

Doesn't work here, they get even closer. I don't understand how people can drive like that.

[–] bonhomme2012 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

I do this and then once they commit to the oncoming lane I floor it and make sure they spend a good amount of time in the wrong lane.

[–] chirogonemd 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago  (edited ago)

I tend to do a light brake check. Not absurd to where we have to screech to a stop, but enough to make the person have to readjust their distance because now they've assessed their own risk. Of course, this must all be done with some common sense. There are different grades of tailgating (from the I'm late for work variety to the it's been an hour since my last beer and I'm fucking pissed at my girlfriend variety). You also need to be aware of the road conditions.

If it's snowy/icy I will just lower myself to the speed limit and let them be angry. Plus, I want be to remain fully in the clear if there is an accident on account of the retard behind me. If its rainy or foggy and the visibility is low, I also tend to avoid a break "check" and may just coast to lower my speed.

I'm talking about single lane highways. If you are on the e-way, fuck it. It's really not worth it. At all. Just get over and let the person go. It's completely irrational to make an ego decision when you are in a 2000 lb. gas bomb travelling at 70 mph. Nobody is judging your manhood or your cock if you merge right to let an asshole pass you. I get the most angry when it's single lane, I'm doing 5 over, and somebody is still right on my ass. I've heard some people make the argument: "Well if you are in a legal passing zone, you want to be as close to the car ahead of you as possible at the moment you merge left to pass them. You increase the danger if you start the pass from further back." Fine, so make your approach when you see you have the passing opportunity. But I can't tell you how many assholes won't even take the passing choice despite having plenty of opportunity.

To me, it's a power thing when it comes to vehicles. Vehicles, in much the same way as weapons, are an equalizer. Someone with a gun can talk trash and act hard regardless if they're 5'3" and 105 lbs. Cars kind of have the same effect. Which is why I think women and hard ass dumb fucks tend to be the majority tailgaters. Cars even the field. Speed is determined by depressing an accelerator. It takes no skill. Somebody wanting to feel dominant, tough, or important can do it on the road because there is no real "check" against it. A woman couldn't do that in most other contexts, but on the road, she can be as "hard" as she wants. Same with Napoleon complex men with their 6" lift on their blacked out Dodge pickup.

[–] industrialfish 1 points 15 points (+16|-1) ago

The correct action per my state's Driver Intervention Program is to reduce your speed to increase available forward stopping distance.

Which conveniently pisses off the tailgater too.

[–] Flirp 0 points 12 points (+12|-0) ago

Eh, I just downshift and watch them freak out because they almost rear ended me. Beater cars are the best.

[–] voats4goats 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

The amount of space i give cars is directly related to how beat up they are.

Only three assumptions can be made with them:

1) You dont have insurance

2) You dont give a fuck and will run people off the road

3) Youre fucking blind as a bat

[–] Cat-hax 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Eh as much as I would love to this I don't want to have to call the cops to get a police report then have the retard that hit me sue me for "neck pain".

[–] Silencedmajor 2 points 13 points (+15|-2) ago

I'm going to go with "it's because they are aggressive, ignorant cunts".

[–] Flirp 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

What's really sad is they are just oblivious drivers and just stuck in their stupid horrible ways of driving. I love it when they can't even bother to look ahead of the car in front of them. Great example: car following other car so obliviously they turn when the other car turns then fuck up the flow of traffic because they didn't really want to turn and selfishly get back in the lane.

[–] Pronebone45 2 points 3 points (+5|-2) ago

That’s my vote as well. Back in March I had to go to court because one of those cunts intentionally ran into my vehicle & decided to start screaming at me “cmon I’ll fuck you up mother fucker!!”. To which I replied with a right cross to his jaw.

[–] Cat-hax 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

I know it was a "in the moment" thing probably should of just stayed in the car tho.

[–] PaulNeriAustralia 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

in a nutshell !

[–] TimberWolfAlpha 3 points 10 points (+13|-3) ago  (edited ago)

Because you're in the goddamned leftmost lane. Move Right. Left Lane is for passing only, motherfucker. (if this is not the case, then it's somebody else riding your ass, not me.)

[–] ssaa6oo 1 points 2 points (+3|-1) ago

If I'm in the left lane I'm passing and as soon as I have the chance I will go to the right lane and let you pass me, but if you tailgate me I will go out of my way to fuck with you. I hate morons that see there is a car on my right and they will have to wait 2 more seconds for me to pass it and go to the right lane myself no matter what I do, but they stick to my ass and start flashing their lights. That's the fastest way to make me drive parallel to the car on my right so you have no way of passing ever. Just wait the extra 2 seconds, let me move to the right and pass me. And the idiots do this shit when im 20 km over the speed limit, about 160 km/h so it's fucking dangerous. You accomplish nothing by tailgating and it's fucking moronic.

[–] TimberWolfAlpha 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

You're only gonna make it worse antagonizing them. If you're actually passing g the person to your right, you aren't the type of fuckstick I'm referring to. HOWEVER, the whole reason you moved to pass to begin with was that the person in front of you was traveling too slow. Now you're that person for someone else. They don't want to be behind you any more than you wanted to be behind the other guy.

[–] Cat-hax 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Fuck I know right, they want you to move over yet you have no where to go, a fucking cop did that to me just today, he eventually realized I had a wall of cars on my right and backed off.

[–] FormerBaltimoreRes 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

If you are admitting that you try to "fuck with people" when operating a 1500kg+ motor vehicle, you need to reconsider your priorities. Imagine you get rear ended, do you really think you are going to be laying in physical therapy after the crash thinking "well at least I showed that aggressive driver".

I am going to level with you, it isn't like this was a one-off experience, this is obviously something that consistently happens to you. Which makes me assume you are at least partially at fault here. The other drivers aren't tail gating you for the fun of it, you're probably camping in the left lane and need to get over.

There is nothing wrong with letting another car pass, I cruise 180-200kph and if a faster car comes up behind me or flashes their brights, no big deal I move over. If they get too close to me, I still let them pass. I actually don't mind, the car that passes me is much more likely to get the ticket. Don't take any of this as me "trashing you", I would just prefer you stay safe on the roads since we need you healthy for our RWDS in a few years.

[–] auto_turret [S] 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

I should have explained not only do I speed, the road I'm talking about is two lanes.

[–] TimberWolfAlpha 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Well, you asked why I do it. Which isn't the circumstances you were in.

[–] Proxima 2 points -2 points (+0|-2) ago

Youre still not supposed to fucking speed. Cops will PULL YOU OVER NO MAYTER WHAT FUCKING LANE YOURE IN you ignorant piece of TRASH

[–] The_Infidel 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Speeding is a victimless crime, who are you to dictate how fast I move through space? If you let the person pass they wont tailgate you and they take their chance at getting a ticket, you aren't the police and have no authority to tell someone how to drive.

[–] TimberWolfAlpha 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Let them. You're not a cop.

[–] Samsquamch 1 points 7 points (+8|-1) ago

Don't engage, don't escalate. It's not worth my time or possibly money. That said, I do slow down to the speed limit for 2 reasons -

  1. Since someone is tailgating, I need to reduce the chance of a sudden stop and speeding makes a sudden stop more likely.

  2. If an accident does occur, I want to be able to state I was not breaking any laws, including speeding and suddenly slamming on my breaks (which would still be their fault, but I don't want to have to defend anything I was doing).

They'll usually figure out they need to go around at some point and as long as there is room and it's not dangerous, I just let them get where they want to go.

[–] Cat-hax 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Good points I'll try to practice from now on.

[–] RustyEquipment 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Those are too hard for OP to do.

[–] bob3333 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

I see you don't have a lot of spics or Armenian drivers. In Los Angeles they'll just road rage at you for slowing down and tailgate harder. If they get pissed enough the start swerving in front of you and slamming on the brakes. That's why I keep a 5,000 lumen flashlight in the car. You know what that shit does right into your eyes from 10 feet at night? Good luck seeing for a couple of minutes after that. In the daytime it's more tricky, but usually when you start to film them they take off.

[–] Cat-hax 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

I just have oblivious new Yorkers.

[–] Le_Bucheron 2 points 7 points (+9|-2) ago

I usually start to slow down without touching the brake when people get too close to me. Then I accelerate fast to my previous speed to get a safer distance between me and the niggerfagget. I repeat if necessary. If I'm pissed because they don't back off, then I hit the brake softly on n off to make the break lights blink. After that if you are still in my ass, I get whatever garbage I can grab in the car and throw it at you you motherfucker.

[–] a_fucking_dude 4 points 7 points (+11|-4) ago  (edited ago)

I'm not sure I should say this publicly, but ...

When they ride your ass like that, tap your breaks hard. Especially if it's raining. You'll be the one getting the fat insurance settlement, and they'll have reason to re-examine their aggressive asshole driving philosophy.

edit: just make sure that your head is pressed firmly against the headrest first.

edit2: you saw something that looked like a cat in the road in front of you.

[–] Hand_of_Node 0 points 8 points (+8|-0) ago

tap your breaks hard

Just remain aware of your boss or supervisor and don't overdo it. Go ahead and take that dump before your break, so your break-time is all relaxation, but the traditional "20 minute shit" might get you points off in some environments. Don't tap your breaks hard if your boss is already riding your ass.

[–] Attheendofmyrpoe 1 points 1 points (+2|-1) ago

thinking outside of the box

[–] Epictetus_Hierapolis 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago  (edited ago)

Dropping the cruise control down a bit or downshifting also works great.

[–] Flirp 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Downshifting is the stealthy way 😉

[–] bob3333 1 points 1 points (+2|-1) ago

I like to do it hard enough to engage the anti-lock system and lock the seatbelts. Serious.

[–] syble 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Don't think cat would cover it in most states. In about 7 states you wouldn't even need an excuse.

[–] a_fucking_dude 1 points 0 points (+1|-1) ago

Pretty much anyw fuck off.here: if you are too close to avoid collision when the person in font of you hits the brakes, then you are at fault for following too closely. Very, very few exception. Back the fuck off on the road. Lives are at stake. Don't drive aggressively.

[–] Flirp 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Yup, they are usually at fault for following too close. Got about $2500 so far from asshats that don't give space.

[–] SuperConductiveRabbi 2 points 5 points (+7|-2) ago

If you're in the passing lane it means you should move over. Otherwise the person behind you is just being an asshole.

[–] auto_turret [S] 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

The road in question is just two lanes.

[–] SuperConductiveRabbi 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Then the person behind you is just being an asshole

[–] The_Infidel 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

I dont know why people are downvoating this, it is state law here that the left lane is for passing and right lane is for driving. There are studies that show it helps traffic flow and decreases danger because people wont be jumping from lane to lane as much to pass.

[–] SuperConductiveRabbi 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

The people downvoting it are probably the ones that drive 5 over in the passing lane in their shitbox Prius, then stomp the throttle when you try to pass their retarded ass on the right.
