  1. I've been on a job where there was a shortage of ladders and people were competing for their job with only their productivity as a resume. Your situation may or may not have been in that type of environment, but I have been in those environments and seen how desperate and mean people can be. Yes there are a lot of electricians that are assholes. You just have to bypass them. There's nothing you can do about them. The only thing they want is to get a rise out of you. That's it. Don't feed the troll. There are good people working in the trade.

  2. That guy was a fucking moron. The trade has just as many morons as any other work environment.

but damn I hate working with electricians who think their trade is special

I'll give you that one. It's like handing a medal to a high school drop out most of these guys. But think about it this way: those electricians you've encountered are obviously dumb assholes, and not only do we have to work around them all the time, but in many instances our lives are at stake with only those morons on the other end of the wire. Truth be told we could die every single day we show up. Just one dumb mistake.

username doesn't check out

you don't seem angry to me you seem like a cool guy I'd like to hang out with

BTW I borrowed a ladder for < 5 mins from the mechanical contractor, just had to walk my fat ass a bit further while sparky stood there next to a stack of ladders doing nothing. Later I did have to carry my ladder up a few floors because I always worked late so there wouldn't be as many morons - by then all their ladders were chained up.

After I made that comment I did start thinking about some of the good EC's I worked with, and they were good guys. It just really frustrated me to see noncooperation when its so easy to work together.

Once I was working on the outlet out by the pool, I asked my father if he had turned off the breaker, he said yes - I handled it like he had, got shocked, wow I was pissed. Good lesson learned early (~16) in life.

Be careful handling those electric sssnakesss
