I thought that Voat, of all places, appreciates simple conservatism, as in "if it's not broken don't fix it".

Conservative doesn't mean Luddite. If, say, better toilets required embryonic stem cells, then there'd be opposition by conservatives. But that is not the case.

Humanity stopped progressing 50yrs ago. Everything today is for shit. Its bullshit web apps that jack each other off, and cancer treatment from eating jew food

We are progressing, it’s just a different form.

Albeit most is not practical to the majority of us for their intended purposes of being invented. Take a check at quantum computing

Devil's advocate position: if you came up with super technology do you think society in its current state even deserves it or would use it for good?

The problem isn't the toilets, the problem is that people don't wipe properly and wash their hands

Another fun fact: Indians wipe with their left hand. In India, it’s offensive to try to shake someone’s hand with the left one because that’s the shit hand. Also, toilets are just holes in the ground you squat over.

I have the sink sprayer on the side of my toilet like some Asians use. That with paper gets the butt nice and clean.

Overpriced, as are all technologies before widespread implementation. If people demanded the ability to burn their shit, all the toilet companies would try to implement them, lowering the price due to competition.

Buckminster Fuller writes all about outdated societal systems that are used in daily life. Critical Path is the book, everyone should read it. He talks about toilets, single tier farming, self sustainable technology and city infrastructure. Just rearranging a few things and making a few changes could drastically impact energy/efficiency ratios. We waste waste waste and waste and wonder why everyone is pissed off and unhappy. Hmmm

[–] Rawrination 0 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago

Feature not a bug. Making everyone pissed off and unhappy is the point to the assholes that rule us.

[–] EVERYBODYPANIC 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Did he have a chapter for shitty societal systems? If not, dig him up and put him to writing. REplace our horrible societal and political system, and the toilet woes will be taken care of.

[–] auggs 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

He really does. Its not a chapter per se but the first part of his book. His metaphor is "the further you draw an arrow back, the farther it will fly". So he starts from the very beginning of humanity and explains how we got to where we are today. Then builds on those suppositions for technology of tomorrow.

Thanks for the book reference I’ll probably read it. From the back of the book, it looks like he pushes for a one world government and an AI to run resource allocation. While I see his vision there’s one problem. Humans. Corruption would be rampant in one generation.

[–] auggs 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Yeah I dont agree with all of that but several projects he lays out and his design implementation are worth considering.

It works. Romans also didn't have flush toilets - they were marble holes in the ground.

[–] SquarebobSpongebutt 0 points 7 points (+7|-0) ago

If necessity is the mother of invention, then please explain what necessitates more modern toilets? Also, Romans did not have anything like the toilets we have now. Saying that we still use the same tech is like saying that phone technology hasn't advanced since it was invented.
