Android all the way. For nothing else if not the lack of iTunes.

Don't knock iTunes. It keeps me sharp on my IT troubleshooting skills.

iTunes or not, I don't see why I would need a second piece of software to do anything with my device. Same with my mp3 player (which I use instead to save battery life on my phone). I just want to plug my devices into a computer, access folders, and move my content around. The idea of a software to move this content around just seems very year 2000 to me.

Agreed. I've NEVER understood what people see in itunes or any other bit of software that attempts to catalogue my music collection. It's not exactly rocket science to organise some files and folders.

Itunes is the worst piece of shit ever. I cant stand it. I went without my phone for 6 months and had to use an iphone and during that entire time i absolutely refused to put that garbage on my computer. Just a quick rundown of why i hate apple. 1. Itunes - you cant even get new ringtones without that crap and it never seems to run well on a pc (they have to do this on purpose) 2. the stupid itunes store - Ive used apps on both devices and the droid ones work better and look a hell of a lot better. 3. the phone itself - they sell you this shit thats engineered to break. The battery itself has a pre-set life ffs. even the charges on apple products are designed not to be backwards compatible...the only logical explination is so you cant use someone elses in a pinch and are forced to buy a new one.

I could go on and on here but those are just 3 of my pet peeves with apple. God I hate that entire company.

Isn't Apple Music being released on Android as well?

It's more about personal preference, I've had both (iPhone and Samsung) and I personally enjoy Samsung more for it's ability to be customized. If you like a simple easy to use device, go for iPhone. If you honestly like to play around with your handheld - into your own version of awesomeness - then go for Samsung.

It should be clarified - Samsung is just one company that makes Android phones. Other notable companies are HTC, Motorola, LG, Asus, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and so forth.

When you're looking at Android devices, while Samsung devices are usually physically well done, they are widely considered to have the worst software. They've made a lot of progress this year, but most other manufacturers get much better performance with the same specs.

samsung is pretty nice with their IR on the phone. Fuck looking for the remote right? Motorolla seems to be the bargain though. My brothers bought me an unlocked moto-g for christmas a year and a half ago and its been very good to me. My next phone will probably be a note though. I really like those things. If just only for the stylus they use. seriously they write so well!. I use an asus tablet for note taking at school and Its easier to use the much smaller note phone for this. The generic styluses just suck.

I currently have a galaxy s5 active, and I would like to customize my phone, I'm just afraid I'm going to mess up some setting and loose content like pictures and contacts. Any chance you know of any good customizable apps to try out?

Chances are, you are signed in to Google and everything is backed up already. If you haven't already, sign in to the Photos app, it backs up all your pics and vids to Google, you can even specify individual folders you want backed up. Also, Google backs up all your contact information. This makes changing your phone really easy. just sign in to Google and it will sync all your contacts to your new phone.

It's more about personal preference

Yes, but for more than just specific phones. The main difference between Android (LG, Samsung, One Plus, etc) and the iPhone is the philosophy behind the OS and ecosystem. In super-wide term one could think of it like Mac vs. PC to get a feeling on how different directions they have chosen.

That's probably why I never had an iPhone, I never owned a mac and I know about the compatibilities and stuff.

I currently use an iphone 5c, but I've gotten tired of apple's limitations, so I will be switching to android (probably a G4) when my contract is up in a few months.

I've jailbroken it already but the cydia apps are limited. And I'd like a phone with a microSD slot so I could listen to all my music.

I own a g4. Can confirm it's a great phone. Battery life is pretty decent, but the main thing that sold me on it was the fact that it isn't sealed, like flagship phones.

Android for me; I love my N5.

If you're not one for much tinkering, then iOS is generally a good choice. Personally, I like customizing everything, so it's not the best option for me.

Out of those, I'd take the G4 or OPO (One Plus Two announcement should come later this month). I've never been a fan of Samsung's Galaxy devices; I hate TouchWiz and KNOX. Plus, with the S6, they just made it worse, IMO. I'd rather have a SD card slot and a removable battery with the plastic/rubber casing.

Every time I see someone with a windows phone, I think to myself, "He must've lost a bet".

Not gonna lie, the new Windows phone with the Windows 10 OS (or whatever they're calling it for mobile devices) looks pretty solid.

I'm with you. Love my phone, I think the other options are okay. Yeah you get more niche apps but I've never liked the overall UI of the other options.

Love my windows phone. Absolutely fucking detest Internet Explorer. Worst fucking mobile browser I've ever used and there's no Firefox or chrome yet. Seriously how can a multi-billion dollar corporation fuck up a web browser so badly? Fucking fuck. If Windows 10 for mobile doesn't fix this I'm buying a Samsung.

Edge (formally Project Spartan) will be replacing IE on the Windows 10 platform. It's looking pretty promising on the developer preview so far.

Fuck what people say, go look at both machines and OS's and decide for yourself. There are way too many fanboys who will tell you to get something because its the 'best'... No, get what you like.

My brother has a LG G3, he really loves it, so I think the G4 must be good. If you like to customise your phone so it will be exactly how you want it to be, buy an Android. If you like things simple and ready for use, I'd say buy the iPhone. I personally prefer Android though it really depends on what you are looking for.

I like apple because I like the lack of control, lack of flexibility, lack of creativity and because they make both the hardware and the software. Because if its not an Iphone, its NOT AN IPHONE.
