There's a lot of shit that can happen that makes you wonder if you were really lucky to survive. But a good coffee is still good, a cool breeze is still refreshing.
Sometimes you don't have much of a choice what you experience. You could whine about it, or pity yourself, or like OP said, take those few snatches of pleasure where they come.
