It's unprofessional bullshit. I think some douchebag that's at least half faggot put that in to seem trendy and (cough) diverse in their thinking and approach, and if it's not that it's some lame-o line placed there by a lonely HR douchebag because they saw it in a psychology or HR magazine while twiddling their gender-fluid genitals while dropping a deuce on the can at work.

Jesus christ lol. My thoughts are basically the same. Glad I'm not the only one and that I'm not going crazy thinking this is something I'm going to have to suck up for my career. Fuck that place.

Just get the job and bring an actual gun or an actual sword to work and murder the fuckers defend your team to excess.

We respect your time and space, and will give you every required break, or you can say fuck off to breaks, do your job all day and leave early. Now we are talking

At least they frankly advertised that the whole company is a bunch of developmentally arrested gamers and group-hug wankers.

Be thankful you didn't discover this after wasting your time interviewing with them.

You could just relax, and look at the other aspects of the job to see if it otherwise fits you. If you were to look deeper, you may find that they do this to let potential candidates know that they intend to try and create a relaxed atmosphere - if that's not your thing, move on, but you may want to glimpse over the "Nerf" thing as nothing more than an attempt at attracting younger talent and to suggest a less strict work environment, but it's not a hard mandate that you have to play Nerf games I'm sure. If you are going to start bitching about a job before you even decide to interview for it, you may want to do both yourself and the hiring company a favor and move on. Don't waste everyone's time.

In my experience those little subtle things like this are often what slowly but surely annoy the shit out of me at my job. It's worthwhile to look closely and try to judge what the company is like. Unless you like to jump job to job, which I don't like doing.

I have no intention of interviewing there, as I explained in the post that crap is major turnoff. I was just curious how others perceive it.

“Nerf gun wars” = “our culture sucks so bad we have to manufacture excitement by sprinkling toys around the office hoping to trick you into believing we actually have fun at work”

Yes, much more succinctly put than my long winded post somewhere else in this thread. An attempt to create manufactured phony culture between people who don't know, or care to know, each other beyond working together.

A class companies hire A class people.

B class companies hire C and D class people. Looks like you found an B class company, my friend.

Run.

Engineering huh? I recently just switched jobs to a different firm myself, and they made a point of saying how they look for the engineers who can make eye contact and actually like being social, which that didn't bother me I was like cool. So maybe that's what they are going for when they put that in the job description? Still very faggy, but possibly good intentions

That would definitely piss me off. If I were working out some kind of problem and a dart or something hit me in the back of the head, it'd be hard not to take a swing at the first likely suspect. It can take time to get your concentration back when somebody breaks it abruptly and that would ruin the job for me.

My thoughts too. Are they 10 years old? Major turn off for me. Supposed to be a great company to work for according to the awards they've received in Michigan as top 100 companies to work for.

This. I go to work to work. Not to play. Take that cost in lost productivity and HR wages, and give it me directly in the form of a bonus or otherwise.

I want to go to work, get stuck into my jobs, work with my team to get them done go home to spend time with my family/friends.
