Well I think originally...the only people (men) who were allowed to vote were property owners. That's not a bad idea if you think about it.

now the jews own most of the property!

We can fix that.

This is honestly the exact reason why it's a bad idea to tie voting rights to something like paying taxes or owning property- (((any insular group that comes along))) can use nepotism, ingroup preference, and shady techniques to gather up all the land, or become the majority of taxpayers etc, and suddenly they control the votes.

I don't know, I could see ted turner diving away plots from his 2+ million giving away a large number of small plots to anyone registered with his party of choice.

Nothing like owning a 1cm X 1cm plot of land to vote.

I think it should go further.

Property owner. Never received a dime in welfare. Has children (has some stake in the future). IQ of at least 100, as required by an official IQ test that isn't created by the jews. White skin (street shitting pajeets and slave descendants aren't real americans).

If you receive any form of welfare you don’t get to vote.

Is that only while receiving welfare, or do you feel if you've received it even once you're ineligible to vote forever? Not trying to be a dick, just clarifying.

So, if you collect the Earned Income Tax Credit then you don't get to vote. If you deduct mortgage interest on your taxes then you don't get to vote.

I think this: If you DID pay taxes, and you're not on welfare, then you should be able to vote. If you are retired, and paid into social security or an equivalent, then you should be able to vote. If you are on welfare, then you should not be able to vote. If you are in the country on any sort of visa, or if you are illegal, then you should not be able to vote. If you are a naturalized citizen, and work, you should be able to vote. That's not the whole story, though. Much of the problem with "voting" comes from the following: Many people vote for folks who deceive them. This has happened a number of times since I've been voting--LBJ, Carter, the first Bush, Clinton, the second Bush, Reagan, Obama.

The problem is that "representative government" today means, "Vote for me, and I'll do what I want." We definitely need a national recall law; we also need a decentralization of government, and a gigantic reduction in the Federal bureaucracy. Much of the current mischief we see comes from a bureaucracy refusing to honor the wishes of the voters. That alone should be a firing offense, the bureaucrat loses his pension and all benefits automatically, unappealable.

firing offense

You spelled "hanging" wrong.

[–] SteveB1945 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

True. I could also have mentioned "firing squad," or "electric chair," or some other item appropriate to the particular moment. I do not count "lethal injection" among those, since it's far too calm and quiet. Must have drama when this is done. Public drama.

The core of the problem is that the receiving hand will always vote at the expense of the giving hand

That's a pretty dangerous road you're treading... And before you blast me, at least hear me out:

If this is the route you're going, you should consider the converse to be true. That is: if those who don't pay taxes can't vote, those that do pay taxes have voting power.

This is where the waters get murky, and your argument falls apart...

McDonalds pays a lot of taxes... do they get to vote and influence US elections? The ASPCA pays taxes... by your definition, they should get to vote in US elections. George Soros' various companies/organizations pay taxes... does he get a vote for each of those?

Also, do votes get weighted by how much you pay in taxes? Are George Soros' various votes "worth" more than yours since he's paying more than you? What about all those libtard celebrities who want to take away your guns... since they pay more in taxes, every day, than you pay in a year, do they get 365 votes to your 1 vote?

The idea of the vote is that it puts all citizens on a leveled playing field. It's the great equalizer. As long as you're a citizen of the US, your vote counts as much as mine, which counts as much as Soros', which counts as much as Obama's and Trump's.

Once you put stipulations on that, you go down a slippery-slope... Just remember how stipulations effected the country with the 3/5 compromise.

I feel like this could be easily abusable by the government. Just hike minimum wage and make it so the bottom of society is not employable, or doesn't make enough money. Raise the bottom tax bracket from 22 or whatever to 40, and voila! More than half your country has no say in the government.

why do you need the government to build roads?

pay the private companies directly instead of using a middleman.
