It depends on how you see voting up or down.

Some people see a vote up as a "Yes I agree with you" and a vote down as "No, you're wrong and I hate you, you're a niggerfaggot"

While I do follow this mantra to an extent and certainly vote up posts I agree with, I don't downvote people who I'm having a discussion with even if I disagree with them. I haven't even downvoted anyone on this site yet, as long as it's something that's not entirely nonsensical like random spam bullshit (like Shareblue links) or whatever this potato stuff is I don't see a reason to downvote someone for adding to a discussion even if I think they're a total faggot with dumb ideas.

If I really agree with someone 100% and can literally add nothing else to the conversation, I can see how I might say "Yes this 100%" because I feel compelled to respond to the post, but I truly can't give my answer in a better way than the person I'm agreeing with.

I especially feel like this applies to Voat more because it's a smaller user base, which means there's less discussion and content in general. I don't want to dissuade people from voicing their opinion even if they're fucking stupid because otherwise It's an echo chamber with the same content.
