I dunno about you goats, but what riles me most is that most search engines limit your search by displaying an extremely limited # of links for your search query, with a message at the bottom saying 'The following results are not relevant. Repharase your query'

...theyve also made many sites obsolete, by deranking to favor their msm bullshit. There used to be hundreds of thousands of active blogs, but how do you monitor them all? Just derate them so if anyone queries about anything, they'll end up with a plebbit link in their query. Perfect for this fucked communist shadow gove we got. Get everyone on the same blog make it easier to censor them all. Fuck this. Time to go back to niche blogger sites.

people choose convenience over freedom

Quoted for truth.

This mentality is seen everywhere. Most people refuse to learn Linux because "muh games" or "I'll have to relearn everything" but then microsoft released a new version of Windows that looks completely different, breaks older programs, continued to spy on everything you do. All those reasons people have for not switching is voided because Microsoft is guilty of it, too.

People buy a car, rely on it to function so they can get to work. But learning how to do basic maintenance? Nah, let's pay someone else to do it for me. Got a flat tire? Good thing I payed AAA, now I'll wait around for an hour so they can do something that would take 15 minutes to do. But hey, at least I don't have to learn something new.

people choose convenience over freedom

In a lot of cases, "convenience" isn't at issue.

Make a post on gab.ai? You'll be appreciated by both people who see it.

Make a post on GNU's social media platform? Grandma will ask you why you don't use your Faced Book anymore.

Same deal in a lot of cases. Many things require critical mass and capital investment, and that doesn't come easily or cheaply. Not just in dollars and cents, but also eyeballs and participants.

As soon as something requires large amounts of the general public to buy in to be effective, you will be subject to their whims. Even if they want to bail out, particularly if there are too many choices of where to bail out.

you cant blame "people" as people are 6.5 billion individuals, some like you and me who fight for an open, creative, public internet. The power over the Internet has shifted away from programmers towards a handful of corporations. Content has gone from what programmers want to talk about towards what corporations want to talk about -- fake news and merchandise

I can vouche for this, have dabbled in search engine optimization for nearly 10 years now.

It used to be the case of gaming the search engine's system, which to this day still works for obscure keywords or non-political ones.

In my (and my friends') tests we have concluded it is impossible to game the system on any set of keywords they personally monitor.

This is how they intend to rewrite history (and its narrative) because the newer generations do nothing but search for stuff on google.

This is the main reason google+youtube needs to die ASAP.

I'd prefer for them to get serious competition. Maybe something like https://www.yacy.net/en/ only with good enough search results.

It's not shadow communist. Communism has, notably, a much more hands on approach. America experiences feudalism, where massive, corrupt corporations are basically given territorial control over the people. Well, the answer isn't "niche blogger sites,' the answer is a new internet. One purpose built for anonymity and designed with no central infrastructure. 100% P2P, heavily encrypted.

The best part? Piracy would skyrocket, bleeding Hollywood dry of literal trillions. Silicon Valley would be disrupted to a point of collapse. They deserve it, for the awful things they've done, for their state sanctioned success and their failure to promote liberty.

The amount of valuable information on the net is vast. The entertainment value is dropping drastically I agree. I can't even get through a tv series on netflix anymore let alone binge watch anything. Sit through a 2hr movie? Not a chance. As long as the net has utility for research and business I will be here but yes, going outside and away from the digital world is more and more attractive these days.

Same, I figured it was a mix of me getting older, smarter, and the content not being as good. If I find a great show like West World I can still binge watch but they're rare.

To OP on the video game subject I'll say some of the passionate developers have been putting work into VR games and content so you won't see it without a headset. Better VR headsets should be coming out soon too btw.

Don't forget Youtube is going downhill with the demonetization of people's videos and the censorship. I used to have enough subscriptions to channels with brand new content that I could watch nearly everyday after work. Now? Not so much.

A way for the common man to talk to every other common man and discuss what the elites say? I'm surprised its lasted this long.

They want us busy at work and idle at home. So they provide entertainment to keep us happy and distracted. Internet is communicable entertainment so its a double edged sword. People have fun talking to each other but people talking to each other is governments biggest fear. So idk if the digital age will end but it will be a big factor in whatever is approaching.

I don't think the digital world as you put it would ever end. What can possibly replace the Internet? If anything, I think a "media revolution" might happen but it has to take something much bigger than Gamergate in order to get multiple groups of likeminded people to get riled up and actually do something about it. What needs to happen is that more people must be informed of the (((truth))) and realise how bad things actually are.

Well how about that phone? Nope. It's killing you! The radiation and the cell signals...

Source?

I don't think it's so much an issue of the internet becoming shitty. It's that everything is. That's cultural marxism though, and the effect of focusing on diversity and equality instead of merit. Equality doesn't produce anything good or innovative. The goal of the Marxist Left is to crush everyone at the edges (the outliers, those who change history and paradigms) in toward a mediocre center.

Everything lately feels mediocre and just unremarkable. Not just the internet and mobile technology. But film. Art. Music. Everything about our cultural is getting crushed and it's obvious to us now because the American way for a long time was very quick to innovate. Leftism is like putting wheel locks on the ferarri of human nature.

And it gets deep philosophically. Because evolution of biological life is competition right. It literally works via competitive forces. Life innovates. What the Left doesn't like is the differential outcomes had by people who compete better. Who do it better. Who are better. The price of making everyone equal is you artificially halt those competitive forces that have driven life forever. And that's what they want. The useful idiots think they are being progressive. Those at the top know that all they're doing is stunting a society to weaken it and destroy it.

It's bullshit. Brain caner incidence rates in the US have not changed significantly since mobile phones came out. Some evidence suggests a link between heavy phone use and brain cancer but the vast majority does not. Ironic that this guy is complaining about propaganda and the media when he bought into a narrative that was created by media hype.

In USA, the radio spectrum has very strict regulations and rigorous compliance for every commercial electronic device sold. Those tests are conducted to the extreme details. Based on this tight regulation and procedure, I don't believe that the radiation of cell signal is harmful.

[–] avgwhtguy1 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago  (edited ago)

research says otherwise.

The regulation on radio devices is so that they dont trespass, interfere, etc with the parts of the light spectrum that have been sold as private property

I agree that cell phone radiation likely poses very little risk. However, I wouldn't be bringing up government regulations to convince anyone that something is safe.

If you were smart, you'd realize it's probably a good thing most of the digital world has turned to a cesspool of shit. Psychologically we are really fucking ourselves with the ability of digital information. Try reading a book, writing, or most other low-stimulus activities that require large amounts of attention. I guarantee your mind will wander far more often than you'd like to admit.

Our brains are being rewired by these large quantities of stimulation we get from digital media. In the coming years it will become much more evident by the types of media that get consumed. The quicker and easier it is to consume the more popular it will be. Take care of yourself and limit your screen time as much as possible. Access to the internet should be treated like a shop tool.
