Also if you plan on going 70 try to get there by the bottom of the ramp instead making 3 people slow down to 55 and then speed up to 70 after merging.

My truck only goes 70 on flat or downward sloping terrain. Get behind me and practice your patience while I struggle up an on ramp.

I can't fault people that don't have the acceleration, but California seems to be especially bad about this. Far too many times, I've seen people in cars and pickups stopped at the end of the ramp while waiting for a gap to merge into.

Just for your consideration - I used to drive a busted ass 4cyl sedan secondhand from my parents. I could put the pedal into the floor and 55 was about the best I'd be doing by the end of that on ramp...

You know I'm talking about forest green minivans and jeep compasses.

The car is not the problem. I believe @M346 is referring to drivers who move into the left lane prior to achieving the requisite speed.

If you stay in the right lane, the only problem would be if there are already cars in both lanes and you force the ones in the right lane in front of those in the left. You can try to minimize this case by staying on the shoulder or reducing your already low acceleration to allow the slightly faster drivers in the right lane to pass you. Sometimes, though, it's just tough noogies and there's nothing you can do about the inordinate timing of it all.

Yeah, I see this everyday, fuckers merge on the highway at 40mph.
