I totally disagree, this rule already forces you to post to please the public. I want to voice my belligerent opinions in a distasteful manner, you mass-pandering, butt-licking niggerfaggots

Shadowbanning would be more fun if, upon receiving one, you only saw topics & comments from other shadowbanned users.

Yes, you can't downvoat whenever your CCP is lower than 100. Voat only checks your current CCP when you voat, there's no CCP history.

Proof: source code.
Edit: fixed link: Voat/Voat.UI/Controllers/CommentController.cs#L63.

Thanks for providing not only the answer but exactly where it is done in the source code.

Voat might just make me actually read C#.

Wonderful. But it does mean malicious brigades are possible.

I'm new to voat and just recently transfered from Reddit. Could you explain what CCP is?

Cheese cheese pizza.
It's cheese pizza with extra cheese.

Uh...

So, how much more investment does the FBI put into looking into extra cheese in cheese pizza?

Also, should we tell people what cheese pizza really means?

Cheese pizza is stupid, it's just topping less pizza.

Cottage Cheese Pizza, it's popular in Sweden and parts of Minnesota. The idea was first introduced by a Colonel cheese pizza and quickly rejected when he killed a whole regiment of troops with curdled ( moreso ) cottage cheese. The Swedes have a genetic marker that allows them to eat the cottage cheese pizza because they are actually hyper-dimensional goats. The Minnesotans have just learned to eat the cottage cheese because Minnesotans are fucking weird.

Maybe even have it so it works above 100 CCP, for example you have 10,000 CCP but if you receive more than 50 downvotes in a day you can't downvoat for a while, or something like that...

[–] Gamersauce404 0 points 43 points (+43|-0) ago

Well that sounds ripe for brigading.

[–] blackjackel [S] 1 points 4 points (+5|-1) ago

yes but if downvotes were limited to your own personal contributions then asshats wouldn't be able to brigade, good thinking though.

If you managed to get enough people to support you to 100 CCP, I don't think you're going to lose it. Trolls aren't going to go through all that effort.

[–] Ulairi 0 points 23 points (+23|-0) ago

I think you'd be surprised, it only takes one real active group a couple days to manipulate themselves that high.

[–] TheKillerRabbit 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

I sort of agree; It took me only a day to reach 100. But I still think that top quality posters and commenters are better rewarded than the trolls.

[–] revfelix 0 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago

Right now it's hard to get to 100 ccp because of the small size of the community. Once Voat hits critical mass like Reddit did after Digg it will be trivial to get that many upvoats.

[–] SlipperyChicken 0 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago  (edited ago)

Maybe the barrier should keep increasing? It used to only be 10 ccp and you'd be allowed to downvoat. Maybe we need some more inflationary pressure

[–] Hedwig 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago  (edited ago)

I didn't realise you lost your ccp once you delete posts. People might want to regain lost ccp by deleting negative comments which is odd, and I wouldn't want to lose my ability to downvoat because I deleted one of my own positive posts.

No,it shouldnt be, the lastbthing we want here on voat is a bunch of karma whores

(Time to earn some downvoats?)

This whole CCP thing has got to be the most infuriating part of using voat. 10 upvotes per day? Really? So now when I see someone making a good argument/ quality contribution to a comment chain I can't even upvoat. For a place that claims to be all about freedom and whatnot this is a strange way of showing it.

Apart from that, I do like voat though. Or at least, it's better than its competitors

[–] frankenmine 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago  (edited ago)

It's a way to protect against coordinated or botted attacks by people who are against that very freedom.

Yeah, and it makes people ACTUALLY get involved in the community.

But you're not alone, you will get there. Until then, others will upvote for the same reasons. And it doesn't take that long - I mostly just sit back and read, commenting here and there, and I've been participating a bit more than I ever did on Reddit due to the inviting nature of most every subverse I've visited and I'm a quarter of the way there in a couple of days.
