I wish I could fly fish. Looks cool, but I keep catching trees. Hell, I used to catch fish from cane pole as a kid, but never caught shit from lures til I got up here. I didn't know shit either; hell, I still don't. Life is a big ole figuring out game, and we all learn different shit. I will say that I''m very envious of your acreage and if you have the .. desire, that you learn to trap it. I'm in my first year of trapping and have such big ideas. Lol. I hope at least, I end up with a middle finger for my gloves. :D

I get plenty by hunting. I don't hunt so much as I harvest a specific animal. There will be plenty of game here long after I die. I'm pretty remote.

These are at a lower elevation than I am at:

It's dark right now, but the sun will be up in a couple of hours. I am going to nap and then go have coffee with the neighbors, assuming I can sleep. You may see a furry woodland critter, on any of those. Moose regularly stomp through town. In a few weeks, you'll see a bunch of snowmobiles. It's not uncommon to snowmobile right into town. The grocery store has snowmobile parking, actually.

I realized how different it really is, and how much I'd adjusted, last year when I didn't even notice everyone had taken their snowmobiles to the Super Bowl party. It's just normal. I've completely adjusted to it. A decade ago, I was a southern city dweller. Today, I maintain my own tractor and have no qualms about field dressing a deer or processing a beef critter. Before, I'd barely cleaned a fish. Now, I'll skin a rabbit without even using a knife.

It's kinda neat and I'm pretty happy here. The community is wonderful and they tolerate me calling them the village people. There is no hunger, crime, or major drama. In my township, the only criminal acts have been my drunken antics and one guy who got an OUI. It's truly the best place on the planet, for me at least. I can live anywhere. I choose here.

Sleep well, should you slumber!
