I live in DFW and have recently started spending more time on the fort worth side of the meteoplex. I grew up working on a ranch, bailing alfalfa with friends during the summer, putting up panels, etc. Country music was just never on my radar, even though the work I did would be considered "country work".
I get snapchats every day from people who never miss a country concert in fort worth. They gloat about how they got to see their favorite country artist like it's a contest, but none of these people grew up rural.
Can someone explain this phenomenon to me? Why do so many people try to be "country"?
