Today's country is just a different version of pop music.

Ask any of those people if they have a Merle Haggard or Waylon Jennings album. The only bluegrass any of them have ever heard is from the 'O brother where art thou' soundtrack. They aren't listening to country music. They are listening to what producers have turned "country" music into.

I mean to be fair I'm not talking Keith urban or Toby Keith (a lot of keiths...?)

The artists these people brag about are the likes of koe wetzel or flatland cavalry. It's like the country hipsters or something.
