Be the change you wish to see!

Anyway, block /v/funny and /v/gifs. /v/all is flooded with posts from a few of the larger subs; mainly those two. Block them and Voat starts to look more like the days before the reddit exodus; the Voat with quality content.

I'd prefer to be able to downvoat those submissions on funny and gifs, but I'm still a ways from the CCP I need. Soon, I suppose.

Seriously. /v/funny here is a joke.

I have an idea, what if instead of blocking these subreddits, we post quality content in them?

Isn't that the point?

I can't gold you so here, have my golf clap.

We have a massive amount of people checking out voat for the first time. It would be hugely beneficial if they saw great content. Specially compared to the bad image it gives that all they are seeing are jokes about how voat sometimes goes offline.

I'd like to see some rules and moderation in place. Voat is anti-censorship at a site level, but that doesn't mean that individual subverses can't have rules to guide content.

The reality is that most people will upvoat or downvoat without ever looking at what subverse something was posted to. If there is no guidance as to the type of content that is acceptable for each subverse, they'll all devolve into the exact same slop.

Personally, I'd like to see things get more specialized. Someone could make a subverse called FunnyScreenshots where funny social media content went, and a "no screenshot" rule in /v/funny. A meme subverse and a "no meme" rule in funny. a MRW subverse and a no MRW rule in funny. AskVoat could be for open-ended discussions only, and then have a different subverse for closed-ended questions.

Those are just some examples. And yes, it does sound kind of like what Reddit did, but it's something they started to do right, at least in some places. Their "Mildly Interesting" subreddit was one of the most well-moderated subs I had seen, where they had rules allowing one type of content and they enforced them.

This is a good idea, however we should be cautious to not split them up too much. If /v/ funny gets split into 10 subverses it will become difficult to handle, I think.
