She just needs more education. Women are naturally more emotional, and it's kind of normal that she'd be sympathetic towards communism on paper.

Full disclosure - I'm a female & I used to be a liberal. I supported unions and voted for Obama. It took some time, but I came around. A lot of it was because my bf was really supportive & smart. At first I thought some things he said were crazy. "Look up the Rothschilds". Lol, crazy man. But eventually I listened to what he was saying.

I wouldn't worry too much about her ideas on foreign policy - just try to educate her patiently. Stick around if you think she could be a good wife someday.

I'd say nearly every woman I've dated has been leftist and feminist when I first met them. But if you're standing your ground, supporting your claims and having a bit of patience, then most of them would rather abandon communism than abandon you. And those who don't, well you know you're dodging a bullet there.

Look up The Gulag Archipelago, A World Apart: A Memoir of the Gulag. If you want something more emotional go with White on Black: A Boy's Story by Rubén Gallego. Or go fuckin ask anyone from any ex communist country. God dammit, go ask woman who were declared 'peoples enemy', who were forced to abandon their families and become factory workers and were never able to start a family. A feminists dream.

normal that she'd be sympathetic towards communism on paper.

Don't know how many times I've explained this to people. Communism on paper seems like a wonderful idea. It's just one of those things that you can't realistically put into practice because people are human and will fuck it up.

I don't knock people for thinking communism is a good idea. It is a good idea.

The problem is when people think it's a good enough idea to make it their system of government.

Absolutely. It's not necessarily a bad trait to want the best or society, just incredibly naive to think communism is the answer.

Maybe a tiny bit. Communism sounds good on paper but it never works out in practice.

If you really like her, red pill her on communism. Let her draw her own conclusions about it and try to foster healthy discourse before you cut ties.

In an ideal world everyone would get what they need, but the real world is not ideal and thus communism isn't viable in real life

Acts 4:32

And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

China is NOT communist. They are fully capitalist, but with the twist of having a few very large state companies, but which are entirely profitable. China has no handouts, and is a one-party government, which is NOT the same as communism and is entirely its own system. Also, China is VERY polarized economically, huge gini coefficient of inequality. So everything she believes to be true about China, is wildly untrue and inaccurate.

As far as developed economies not doing "well", that's because they're so developed and wealthy already, that their input costs are much higher than some developing countries, who have much greater potential left to still grow. This has nothing to do with the political system, and everything to do with the most basic economic principles of supply and demand, and comparative advantages.

For nukes, I can kind of see her point, except that the USA has proven to be arguably* the most self-controlled superpower in human history, in that it has attempted very little in the way of land grabs. The same couldn't be said of previous superpowers. However, the USA's CIA has meddled far too much in other countries, and this is true. No nation that states publicly that it has the intention and goal of obliterating another nation should be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons. If her argument were that the US, Russia, China, Britain, and all the other nuclear powers should together eliminate their nuclear stockpiles, this would be her first logical argument, and one that'd be worth entertaining and discussing. The rest of her arguments sound like that of an ignorant child who has never traveled nor seen much of the world and time.

I think we've just been way more underhanded and nefarious about it. We are some subtly sly bastards.

well, compare to britain and rome and others in history, who would continually expand their colonization. Instead, we made the world love our money, love out culture, and even request our bases or at least financial and security compensation for bases. They willingly have engaged with USA. Our government has been nefarious and underhanded as fuck, but anyone else would be at least as much so, if they had the economic and military might and power of the USA, is my point. My point is that if you took any other people in the world, handed them 330 million inhabitants, a ~15 trillion dollar GDP, and our military might, they would be at LEAST as big of a bully, and probably FAR more so, judging from the history of all the peoples on this planet. Also, it should be noted that this is evolution we live in, and you either dominate or get dominated.

So have we been nefarious and underhanded? Of course, we're human beings. Relatively, compared to others, we've demonstrated arguably far more restraint than any other major power in history.

in that it has attempted very little in the way of land grabs.

The fiat petrodollar global banking system eliminated the need for land grabs, in that it allowed the Federal Reserve and World Bank to underhandedly acquire "legal" ownership of a large portion of the entire world (real estate included) without messy invasions.

No nation that states publicly that it has the intention and goal of obliterating another nation should be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons

To me this is a silly idea; nuclear weapons are an IDEA, a technological innovation, like electricity or gunpowder or jet airplanes. When they were secret and technically difficult to produce it made some strategic sense to try to control and prevent their spread.

But the cat's long out of the bag, and despite the initial attempts to block the dissemination of nuclear weapons they have proliferated to around 10 countries; no "nuclear nightmare" scenarios have resulted despite all the decades of predictions to the contrary. Turns out no country wants to commit suicide by being the first to launch nukes.

Now North Korea may be an exception, but so what? They launch a single nuke anywhere - or even a conventional missile for that matter - and they will be wiped out. Same goes for just about any other nuclear country (though given the numbers of weapons, the US and Russia would be much more difficult).

For countries like North Korea, Pakistan, Israel, and Iran, obtaining nukes is a defensive move; they have very little offensive nuclear capability. To me the idea of the US (or UN) wanting to play 'global cop' and police every single country's internal technology/weapons' program is a total waste of time and money, and in fact an idiotic usurpation of the intent and content of the US Constitution.

"Now North Korea may be an exception, but so what? They launch a single nuke anywhere - or even a conventional missile for that matter - and they will be wiped out."

This is not accurate. North Korea has shelled and Killed civilians in South Korea. This prompted no response because to do so would have been the end of South Korea. Nukes will work similarly, if they have 100 and fire 1 at San Francisco, do you really think that we will fire back if it means that Everyone dies? Do you think our allies will fire back? I guarantee there will be no response. Instead we will end up bribing them into submission, and as the bribes grow the whole world will go broke, because it won't just be North Korea, every other would be dictator will see and mimic this strategy.

Proliferation of nuclear weapons is an end of world event because the bribes required to prop up hundreds of like countries will drag the world economy to its knees. Once the payments stop and everyone is desperate thanks to this global socialist nightmare the nukes will likely fly for real, since there won't be much left to lose.

Or, you know, we could fucking nut up and deal with the situation in advance.

I'm not sure how you get from nukes to most self-controlled superpower, seeing how the USA are the only ones that have actually nuked another country.

we were the first ones to develop the technology, and it saved at least thousands of lives, if not tens of thousands, forcing Japan to finally surrender instead of keeping the war going years longer battling it out brutally on islands

China is doing well? First I've heard. I mean they have improved economically since the Cultural Revolution, but I'd hardly call them better than the U.S. Show her some photos of Beijing pollution. and bring up every past communist countries human rights record.

She may just be uninformed, not malicious. If she still thinks communism is good after that, then dump her.

China is doing well. You see that pollution? It's called industry. Europe had it, but wars pushed it to America, and Clintonian greed has pushed it here.

Thing are fucking awesome here, damned near everything is 1993 or newer. If you see old pictures of China , that China had a new one built on top of it.

Come out here and see it first hand, it's a very welcoming and free nation.

Sure they kill people who don't right think correctly, but go ask Abdulrahman Anwar al-Awlaki what happens if someone in your family is guilty of wrong think. No need for courts, just presidential execution!

[–] nothingproud 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Haha, nothing like some sweet, zero oversight presidential execution.

I don't know if I'm particularly keen to go to mainland China, how do you find the food?

I'll travel to almost anywhere with good food, cheap or expensive. I'll probably head there at some point, but I'd rather go to Japan and South Korea first.

I've been wary due to their apparent disregard for food safety. After doing regulatory work for ingredients from China it's fucked up how many test over the limit for things like e.Coli or pesticide residue. That and the straight up fake honey, eggs, fuck even fake cabbage, who the fuck fakes a cabbage...

Whenever I go to Sydney I get a good dose of how welcoming many Chinese are, lots of rude or selfish cunts but I guess that's just part of growing up in a 1 billion person country.

Ask your girlfriend why, in all of history, communist countries were the only countries to have border walls to keep their own people in.

If she is pro communist, she has several other problems as well. You are right to end the relationship.
