Bring back shame and pride.

It's funny because when I look at books a the library, I judge them by their covers. There's no other practical way to quickly decide whether you want to get to know a book better when hundreds of them are right in front of you.

I may not care about what a person is wearing, but that's because I don't care about that person in general. And if they look like shit, it's a sign that I probably don't want to know them or care about them.

It does. If your doctor comes in with ripped jeans a net shirt, will you trust him just the same as in a white coat, a shirt and a tie? If you want to hire a lawyer to represent you in court, would you pick someone who wears shorts and white sock in sandals in his office? If you are recruiting people for your own little business, wouldn't you say how the applicants show up to the interview gives a little insight into their work ethics and character?

And lastly, if you compare the pictures OP has posted, don't you think that one says "got my life under control" a little bit more than the other? Don't you think that one says "I take care of myself and the ones that are dear to me very well" a little bit more than the other? Don't you think that one says "I have a moral compass that helps me get along well with others and will teach my kids this moral compass and try and lead by example" a little bit more than the other? I think you get the point.

It's not so much about what people wear but how people live, I'm a million times more drawn to a person who visually appears to take care of themselves.

This is exactly why Anglo countries are made fun of. People think that dressing nice means you're making up for something which is so fucking stupid to begin with so they wear sweatpants and pyjama pants or hoodies to show how much they supposedly dont care.

I go to France and Italy every so often and the difference is astounding. Sweatpants and shorts are only found at a household, in the gym, or thugs. Even thugs who wear sweats still pair it with a leather coat and pull it off. The only people who wear sneakers do so as a fashion statement and keep them squeaky clean. A lot wear loafers or oxfords

I don't associate with any person who doesn't adhere to a certain dress code because contrary to what you say about judging a book it actually says a lot about them.

The numbers from 10 years ago show that 70% of working aged people are working, 20% of those are making below poverty.

sorry to piss on the party but you are comparing a golden age to walmart white trash.

while there is a segment that dont care and are trashy, go to any nice restaurant (not a chain) in a downtown area, or go to a business district in any downtown area everyone dresses professionally and nice.

Except that wal mart customers are absolutely notorious for having many of the worst kinds of disgusting people among them. There are entire websites dedicated to "wal mart people" and how horrifying they are. The point still stands, but it is not as extreme as the above insinuation, because walmart is not "average." Walmart is bad, worse than average, and it is usually because they have such low prices and undercutting profit margins that the worst and/or poorest people shop there.

It is not a completely intellectually honest equivalence to make.

well, if you go to a nice grocery, albertsons or giant eagle...premium groceries in the nice parts of town. you will see better dressed people.

bad neighborhoods...bad people.

your point is taken though, things started going downhill universally around 92 or so.

Calling bullshit, because I did exactly that. Gorgeous high rise office spaces next to million dollar homes in neighborhoods. Here's the break down 2/3rd of the men look and act like complete and utter faggots willing to shit themselves at the slightest noise. 1/3rd look like fat IT nerds fresh off their latest conquest at the local Medieval Times fan club meeting. 3/4ths of the women look exactly like street walkers. Pants so tight you can see the hair on their ass. Skits about 1foot to short for decency. Stilleto heals. Wtf ever. The other 4th are the obvious married frumpsters in smocks or what ever sweater light girls are wearing this year. You can pick these out of the croud because their skinny cut paints don't show camel toe.

I made a comment to someone about it and they thought the very concept of a chinos and a button town at work was so antiquated that it was unimaginable. When the best dressed person in the office is the rent a cop in the lobby, shits gone down.

It must have been so incredible to be alive when most everyone was white. No wonder the world considered the United States paradise and not the toilet it is today with fat greasy beaners and niggers with 2nd grade IQ's everywhere.

You can create a prettier link by using this (remove the quotes and the space between the ]and( "[words] (link)". )

That's thousands of images selected by people to be scanned from the 50s. This is biased, literally from selection.

Overall demoralization. We lack pride, because we feel we have lost our moral compass, and therefore our moral authority. The result is total solipsism, of which this is a symptom. "Nobody else's opinion matters!" "Live and let live" and all that Marxist horseshit.

Pride is not just putting a flag on your truck.

One thing would be back then taking a picture was a bigger deal and there were limits like film and not everyone having a camera so photos were naturally more staged and in the hands of the affluent. Also thinking photos that are kept around for a long time are probably kept for a reason.
