so get a landline. Its not like its secret technology kept for the Illuminati. Call them, they wire it, you get a handset. I have a landline. Its only use is the house alarm, but if I plugged a handset in I get a dialtone.

Checked into it here, but was told it is unavailable. We have to have a computer phone line, not a direct to-the-pole phone line.

Report them to the FCC. POTS is still required afaik.

Most now are ip based. Different technology and they do not work if they power is out normally.

ive worked w VOIP phones in business. But I had no idea it was a mandatory thing in residential. My phone line has been there for the 17 years Ive lived here. No one from ATT ever said anything about an 'Uprgrade' or anything. Its just always been that landline. No idea it was actually hard to get one. I wonder if this is regional.
