Imgur and reddit are in bed with eachother. I think their offices are next door to eachother in the same building.

Imgur was the reason FPH was banned. Imgur started removing FPH submissions and so FPH launched an attack on imgur by flooding it with pics of the fat admins. Imgur complained to reddit and reddit stood up for their buddy.

This is what worries me about moving from Reddit to Voat.

I joined Reddit because of the interesting content, the tech focus and the high quality of discussions. Over time I watched it turn into a haven for jailbait, and then into a haven for bullying and hatred. The site ended up more memes than content, and the overall quality of discussion plummeted, particularly during the "pun thread" phase that was really, really tiresome.

Now I'm on Voat and I'm seeing two things:

  1. Endless fucking discussion about how awful reddit is.
  2. The same embracing of bullying and hatred that I always disliked at reddit.

I don't give a shit about freedom of speech. I have no desire to read a subreddit or subverse devoted to bullying fat people. I like that reddit put their foot down in the end regarding the jailbait subs and the FPH subs. I wish they'd done it sooner and harder regarding FPH. I think the whole business with FPH was absolutely pathetic. Sad people throwing a hissy fit because a company said "Fuck this shit, we don't want to be associated with this."

If what I can expect from Voat is more of the same, I'm wasting my time here.

So stay the hell out of that subreddit? I've never understood why people think its okay to deny others the right discuss viewpoints or topics they do not agree with.

Sorry as a FPH mod I can say that is not true. We weren't banned for the imgur situation it was just a coincidence. Reddit had already been making plans months before the incidence to ban FPH they even made rules to do so(safe space) because they knew FPH followed site wide rules to a tee.

I'm sorry I just don't believe it was coincidence. Do you really believe the official story the admins are giving?

Publicly obtained pics, on their very own imgur website.

This is the frustration of the facebook, instagram, and tumblr generation.

Why are you publicly posting what you don't want others to see? And then decry the "misuse of stolen and private photos"!?

Nobody has offered proof of that, though.

Yes, but complaining based on incorrect facts is fun, apparently.

Your reasoning requires there to be an active community of anti-FPH that were brigading imgur photos, do you have any proof of this community? Sure people would voice opinions about FPH but there was never a community devoted to downvoting them and the FPH community was so strong there would have to be a concerted effort to brigade all the FPH images off the public site.

I'm pretty sure imgur staff could hit a button and make 10 downvotes appear instantly.

I just don't understand why people are so quick to buy the official story when the imgur vs fph senario makes much more sense.
