True, BUT, (and I know this is going to be the most insanely optimistic thing I've ever said), I think that all the best redditors (except me I fucking suck donkey dick), are coming to Voat. So while we are all refugees, I think it's the best refugees, the people who are clued-in enough to be sick of so much of the bullshit that goes on at reddit; from the management to the hivemind. So, I'm predicting, cautiously but hopefully that no reddit hivemind shall be formed here.

It always starts that way. It started that way with Digg and it started that way with Reddit.

With a smallish group of people there are so few idiots you hardly notice them. But because the site is awesome and interesting and because the original wave of people contribute good things it attracts more people. At some point there are enough people that the idiots are much more noticeable. Just as in real life, the more people there are the more obnoxious people you will find. There is no escape without censorship, and censorship is why we are here in the first place so eventually you can expect as the population here increases the number of people we don't like will increase. All you can do is try to ignore them. Or censor them, which we shouldn't do unless we want to be just like Reddit currently is. Which we don't. Which is why we are here. :)

Good point. I'm hoping that Voat remains a viable option for a few years at least- in my experience all forums end up getting over-saturated eventually. Never used Digg, went from 4chan to Reddit (I realize the two aren't supposed to be similar, but for the sake of discussion...) and I'm hoping Voat takes attributes from both- 4chan's lack of censorship (and dank memes ayy lmao) and the relatively smooth interface and user accountability of Reddit. Just my two cents.

I think you're right for the most part. I've seen people on Reddit saying they were sick of the blackout and didn't get why people were complaining. Those people I doubt will be leaving Reddit, and if they did I don't think they would come here. There's sure to be some hive mind mentality and stuff that carries over, but I think overall the community here will be better, at least for quite a while.
