Sure you're not thinking of a psychopath? Are you certain they can't choose not to bring harm unto others? If you own a gun, are you completely incapable of choosing not to use it to harm people? If you have an innate understanding of explosives, are you driven by some uncontrollable urge to blow people up?

I was always given to believe sociopaths don't have a sense of empathy and sympathy the way normal people do, but were capable of understanding their purpose. Wherease psychopaths were completely detached from their humanity with no inhibitions in regards to inflicting whatever damage they pleased on others, and no full concept of the consequences of their actions.

I worry you may be mistaking the two, as the garden variety sociopath is most often found in corporate board rooms and executive offices, or positions of government power. Certainly they have the capacity to inflict great harm on others, but they choose not to specifically because they understand the consequences of their actions.

If they understand the consequences of their actions, then they aren't sociopaths. Because sociopaths don't care about who they hurt, or about the harmful impacts of the psychological or emotional abuse they remorselessly inflict onto their victims.

But are you certain you are describing a sociopath and not a psychopath? Because to me it sounds like you're describing a psychopath.
