Have you ever spent time on a website with content aggregated by users?

edit: Hey CANCEL, I just noticed this post was from you. You do some good work on this site and I have viewed and upvoated many of your posts. You are a really good contributor.

So you're telling me that most posts on facebook, twitter, and reddit were recycled from somewhere else?

Yes.

Another thing, has anyone else noticed there's a lot of recycling of material on voat?

Not only that, but I think Eddiots are used to being able to hide by posting the same post in separate subs and due to their larger size it isn't as easily apparent. Since Voat has a narrower emphasis it stands out quickly here.

I occasionally see stuff from years ago, but then again, there are probably people that have missed that or weren't around 10 years or 5 years or 2 years ago, so whatever. No reason to belittle content, just because it's old.

I think that too, but I can't help but imagine all the ccp that's gained from stuff that gets reposted a month later

Bots.

This. Every time I see blatantly reposted material, I always assume it's a bot account building up CCP so that they can be used for downvoating/upvoating, especially when OP doesn't respond at all in the thread.

Thing that annoys me more is the ones that repost unusual statements that are up voated for no reason.

CCP keeps raiders out for a bit, but not the technically savvy.

2017 Voat reminds me of 2011 Reddit. The astroturfers are starting to put a little money into taking over.

/user/CANCEL-CAT-FACTS please let us all know if you go someplace else so we can come along too.

Sometimes it is just sharing things they think others might not have seen.

Other times they are farming voat karma.

The ones who are easy to spot will post a lot of music steadily until the account has 100/100 then their posting patterns change.

Without any 'Russian Tools' or high tech wizardry, the old fashioned way to catch these people out is to make personality profiles with predictions of their interests and vocations in venn diagrams. Usually they will follow pretty normal trends and sometimes users will be all over. When those profiles dont look right, you can look closely at their comments and try to plot their responses and ideas similarly, however that is much less obvious especially considering a lot of Voaters have broad interests and even sometimes play devils advocate to have an interesting fonversaion.

Bottom line though your observation is apt.

Not really. I occasionally see the same thing posted a few hours apart because people haven't checked what was already posted.
