People suck. I hate all of them, out of the box. Make them prove themselves before you let them in.

If you really are looking for a connection, go do the 2-3 things you love to do the most, but do them where others do them. If that is yoga, go to an advanced yoga class. If it is Frisbee golf, go to the best frisbee golf course near you. If it is reading history, go to the local archives of the newspaper or library or museum.

Instead of randomly trying to find a friend with similar interests, go to where people with those interests are easiest to find. After all, youaren;t going to find a person who is really into baseball and hanging out at dance clubs but hates history in the microcfiche room at the local newspaper.

Thanks. So if I want to find other anime/manga fans I should go to that section of the bookstore/library?

Yep. And hang out there for a few hours, reading. People will notice, and you will notice others perusing.

Strike up a conversation if you want. "Did you like that one?" "Did you read THIS one?" etc. etc. if someone is looking at the ones you like a lot.
