It was an issue with the application. It wasn't giving me access to unlock the screen. I could turn the screen off through manual buttons. Managed to reset by holding down power button which gave me access to the virtual restart/plane/shutdown buttons, which I think trumped the peel application.

Weird. What a giant step back from the M8 that phone ended up being. Real momentum killer for HTC.

Kind of thinking they're waiting for innovators to make technology now and then flood the market with their improvements. Akin to Samsung and apple.
