I used to have an HTC as well, when my last phone needed replacement I went with the Cat S40. It's a bit more sluggish than the HTC, has a lower screen resolution (both due to power-saving) and is ugly as sin... But it is practically indestructible and is the only smartphone I've ever seen with 3-4 days of battery life (standby, regular usage - or about 18 hours(!) of talk-time). They also still push Android updates pretty regularly.

I have been looking at outdoor phones, ugly as fuck, totally -like- not fashionable, but sturdy, water/dustproof, and days of battery life.
